Lucknow: The Unnao district malaria officer, Ramesh Chandra Yadav, was caught in the act by the vigilance establishment while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Monday. A written complaint was lodged against Yadav by a biologist in the filariasis control unit of Unnao, KK Gupta. Gupta claimed that Yadav asked for a bribe of Rs 10,000 in return for approving his medical leave. Following Gupta's complaint to the senior superintendent of police and the UP vigilance establishment, it was confirmed that Yadav was indeed soliciting the bribe. Yadav was apprehended by the vigilance team after accepting the money from Gupta at the district malaria office in Unnao. The Rs 10,000 in cash was recovered after a thorough search. A case has been registered against Yadav by the vigilance establishment under appropriate sections at the UP vigilance station in Lucknow, and legal action is underway, officials confirmed.
